Reptile Systems Clamp Lamps have been inspired by designs dating back decades. The general shape has been used to focus and direct light and heat in almost every conceivable application. Medical use, where higher light levels are required, all the way through to bathroom heaters, where polished domes were used to focus infrared downwards into the room. It is a simple and classic design that has even made its way into our homes, as household lamp shades, because of the efficiency of the original form.
This type of domed reflector has been used in the animal welfare industry for decades, warming millions of chicks and other domestic livestock. Serious reptile and avian hobbyist have also embraced it, to reflect and direct the light and heat, for use within reptile enclosures and bird cages/aviaries.
Reptile Systems have added their usual, high-quality, no-nonsense touch to this, now timeless, icon. It is also part of our continuous ongoing testing, both on our purpose-built test bay and over/in our own animal enclosures.
The materials used to construct the Reptile Systems Clamp Lamp guarantees it will not suffer from UV degradation or other intense light damage. It is perfect for use with all types of Edison style (E26) screw end capped, reptile lighting and heating equipment. Made from high quality ceramic, to withstand the very high temperatures associated with reptile lighting and heating lamps, while running safely and efficiently.
The Black Edition is made from a heavy gauge aluminium with the outer dome finished in matt black. The internal surface is highly polished to give maximum reflective properties. Depending on the product being used, it can perform, up to double, that of a non-reflected holder.
The ceramic holder is made from a black base material and is a solid colour all the way through to give its exclusive look. Each model has the maximum wattage rating, electrical information and CE mark printed on this area for your safety and peace of mind.
The dome comes with a black detachable protective mesh as standard, ensuring that you or your animal will not come into contact with the lamp used within the fitting.
This product offers a secure clamp, which is multi directional so it could be clamped to an edge of a tortoise table, for example. It also comes with a sturdy hook for suspending from above, giving you plenty of mounting options. All these items come supplied free of charge and in the box.
You can also angle a heat or light source making it perfect for animals, such as chameleons, that bask side on. You could add a New Dawn Spot lamp to help support plants that require higher light levels or mount it above an indoor bird cage to provide essential UVB lighting, making it a very versatile piece of equipment.
Fitted with an in-line on/off switch and available in three sizes:

Frequently asked questions
Occasionally, we are contacted to say that a Clamp Lamp does not work; there are a couple of equipment checks that should be performed in this case:
- Check the fuse in the E26 fitting
- Check the connections on the E26 fitting to ensure they haven’t been pushed down, preventing the lamp from making a proper connection – if in doubt speak to your retailer for assistance.
